Part 1. What is Recovery Mode on Android

Recovery, in Android, refers to the bootable partition, where the recovery console is installed. Recovery mode contains tools to help

Android users to repair installations and install official operation system updates with the help of the combination of the key presses.

Recovery mode is separate from the original operating system. And it comes with you Android phone. As Android is an open system,

the recovery source code is available. Thus building a customized ROM is quite easy.

Part 2. Significance of Recovery Mode

1. Reboot system now

This is a plain reboot, which will reboot your Android device normally.
2. Apply update from ADB

With the Android Debug Bridge (ADB), you can connect your Android phone to the computer and provide commands right from your computer.

This feature is mostly used to fix bugs in applications by developers.

3. Wipe data/factory reset

Factory reset is the last solutions for most Android problems and issues. You can factory reset the device and start over.

But, this will also wipe all your data in the Android device, so it is important to back up your Android files before that.

You can go to the "Factory reset" option by opening the Settings app as well. However, if you are locked out or fail to go to the operation system,

you can reset your phone from the "Recovery mode".

4. Wipe the cache partition

First up, please note that wiping cache partition is not same as Application cache and cannot be detected the same way. These are temporary files which are used in

application installationunder most circumstances. No personal data is cleared together with them. But sometimes they can make the Android not work properly.

So you can wipe cache partition from "Recovery mode".

To sum up, you can use Recovery mode to perform maintenance on your device, such as installing updates or apps from your SD card or do data backup.

If you would like to boot your Android phone into Recovery mode, you can refer to the post we uploaded onto the website.
